The Ta' Bistra Catacomb cluster is the largest on the island outside the limits of Rabat / Mdina.
The site was first discovered in the 1880s, but only excavated in 1933.
Built around the 4th Century AD, it spans a length of 300 feet (c.90 metres) with 16 chambers containing 57 tombs.
It is believed that the site was in use up till around the 8th Century AD.
The catacombs is managed by Heritage Malta and hosts an interactive 360 degree photo walk through the catacombs.
